Women's Volleyball welcomes new recruit
Name: Seanna Trumier
Hometown: Prince Albert, SK
Height: 5'9"
Position(s) you play: Leftside/Libero
Career aspirations and program you are looking to study:
I am looking to either pursue Nursing or Education in the future.
Reasons why you want to pursue that career:
Both education and nursing are meaningful and impactful careers. I particularly like working with children and either field would give me that possibility.
Volleyball career (high school and club teams you've played for, provincial team experience, and other highlights):
Throughout my high school sports career, I have been a multi-sport athlete, competing at high levels in volleyball as well as basketball on my high school Senior Teams and club teams.
I began my volleyball career with Prince Albert Smashing Banana's Volleyball Club and played for them for 4 years from 13U to 15U. In 2017 I was part of the St.Mary High School volleyball team that won Provincials and I played in all of the matches as a grade 9 student.
In 2018, I played 16U with PA Toppers volleyball club. Then played 2 seasons with Huskies Volleyball Club in Saskatoon where I was the captain for both of those teams. This year due to COVID restrictions I am playing with a new club, Prince Albert Spartans Volleyball Club.
I played 15U Team Saskatchewan in 2018 and we ranked 4th at Canada Cup. I trained with Team Saskatchewan in 17U. I am a potential player for Team Saskatchewan for Canada Summer Games scheduled for 2022.
I have played lots of beach volleyball and won a provincial bronze in the summer of 2019. This past summer my partner and I were the champions of the PAVA's women's two's beach volleyball.
Why did you choose Lakeland College:
Some of the reasons I chose Lakeland College is because of the smaller class sizes, the proximity to home and because of the family dynamic on the team. I wanted to be a part of the Lakeland Rustlers as I wanted to be a part of a team that has a reputation of working hard and that is constantly striving to be the best they can be. The incredible coaching staff were also a huge part of my decision to join Lakeland College.
What you are looking forward to during your time at Lakeland College:
I look forward to meeting and becoming friends with my new teammates and becoming a part of the family dynamic that they have created. I look forward to all the volleyball that I will play and all that I will learn.
