37 Lakeland Rustler athletes receive CCAA National Scholar Awards

Lakeland College continues to excel in the field of competition, without comprising success in the classroom.

Rustlers Athletics has 37 recipients in 2023-2024 for the CCAA National Scholar Award. This distinction is given to student-athletes who achieve honours standing in academics while competing in intercollegiate athletics.

Director of Athletics Alan Rogan said, "This is the largest group that we have ever had acknowledged for this award. I am extremely proud to see our student athletes not only striving for excellence in competition but also in the classroom"

To receive recognition, each student-athlete had to achieve honours standing at their institution in the current academic year.

 Women's soccer coach Doyle Church, who had nine recipients on his team, praised the effort of these student-athletes over the past year.

"It's a testament to the work they put in across the board at Lakeland, as well as the pride they show in the classroom and on the field," he said.

Eight student-athletes at Lakeland were also named CCAA Academic All-Canadians this past season, for their academic standing combining with a league or playoff award given in competition.
