Lakeland’s curling program remains strong in 2024
The Rustlers saw two squads, men's and mixed, qualify for the ACAC Curling Championship in February. Women's curling just missed the cut in fifth place.
The teams needed to make top four in their category when the results of the Fall Regional in Vermilion back in November were tallied with the Winter Regional this past weekend in Edmonton. While the mixed team sat 4-2 after the first semester, the men's and women's teams were below .500 and need a strong showing at NAIT.
This time, the men's team was able to go 3-2 in five games, including a key 7-5 win over the RDP Kings, sealing the fourth spot in the men's division. The women went 2-4, while the mixed squad once again went 4-2, finishing second in the division.
Both the men's and mixed squads will travel to Calgary for the championship tournament, hosted by SAIT. The action takes place Feb. 23-25.
