Rustlers Rodeo reins in three CCFR buckles
Lakeland College's Rustlers Athletics Rodeo Team brought home a three-buckle bounty from the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Canadian College Finals Rodeo (CCFR) from March 28-30.
Lakeland's three 2019 CCFR champions were Fayth Panchuk, Ty Livingstone and Layne Guest.
Panchuk claimed the breakaway roping title with a 9.9 second run and 310 placing points. Livingstone, and partner Jace Harrish of NAIT, won team roping. They put up 290 points and a best time of 17.4 seconds. Layne Guest's 15.6 second run won her the barrel racing title. She earned 360 points.
"It was a tough group of girls this year which made the competition more fun, and it meant a lot to win the buckle. I worked hard at all of the rodeos in the fall and spring, so to get to that point and finish the year off strong, it means a lot to get the gratification," says Guest, a first-year environmental sciences student in the environmental conservation and reclamation major.
