Sigurdson Selected as CCAA All Canadian
Fourth year Rustlers setter Rae Sigurdson was announced as a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All Canadian at the CCAA Women's Volleyball Awards banquet held March 7, 2018, in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Sigurdson was 1 of 10 female volleyball players from across Canada selected as an All Canadian for the 2017 – 2018 season.
Sigurdson led all ACAC setters with 9.59 assists per set in the regular season, and more importantly, she consistently and strategically led the Rustlers offense, guiding the team to a 23 – 1 regular season record. Sigurdson was also instrumental in the leading the Lakeland to their second consecutive ACAC Championship title.
The Oakbank, Manitoba student-athlete is also well on her way to earning her 3rd CCAA Academic All Canadian award as she not only succeeds in competition but also in the classroom.
Sigurdson can also be found giving back to the community as she is one of the volleyball coaches in the Rustler Volleyball club program.
Head Coach Austin Dyer stated "Rae has been crucial to the success of our team and program throughout her time at Lakeland College. Her work ethic and competitive nature have molded her into one of the top college setters in the country. We are very proud of her and what she has accomplished so far throughout her student-athlete career."
Sigurdson and the Rustlers look to take their first steps towards repeating at CCAA Champions when they face the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics Thursday at 1:00 pm.
