Rustlers Women's Soccer | Weekend Recap - Sept 15, 2019
The Lakeland College Rustlers women's soccer team fell short against an experienced NAIT Ooks team this past weekend in Edmonton. The Ooks outscored the Rustlers 10-0 in the Rustlers' third game of the season, leaving them at 0-3-0 on the year.
The Rustlers could not contain the defending Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC) champions as they scored 4 goals in the first half and 6 in the second half.
Goalkeeper, Nicole Prium had 7 saves in the game on the total 17 shots on goal from the Ooks.
Second-year veteran player Emma Lang shared her thoughts on the Rustlers' loss, "we have been applying lots of stuff in such a short period of time for future growth and technique in our team, even though we haven't been getting the outcomes we've been wanting."
The team is amongst the youngest in the ACAC with only first and second-year players on their roster. Lang is confident that with time the young team will pull things together, "we are not going stop and let the score put us down as a team, we are going to work even harder and apply what we are getting taught to further our success in the games to come."
Player of the game for the Rustlers would be first-year Teigan McDonald. The Rustlers will hit the pitch again on Saturday, September 21 at 12 pm at VLA field in Lloydminster.
