Women's Soccer Weekend Preview | September 8, 2017
The preseason is done and the regular season is set to begin this weekend for the Rustlers Women's Soccer team. Losing 8 starters from last year's team and having new players in new roles has been a challenge thus far for Head Coach Kevin Wagner, but the effort has been good. "They have bought in to our programming" Wagner said, "from our off field work, to the on field work their attitude has been good to try and learn, but we are lacking confidence and experience."
While winning games may be a challenge for this team that lacks experience, coach Wagner looks to stick with the pillars of gaining experience and knowledge and improving technique. "If we can develop better players, who take their grades seriously and help coach or be good in the community then I will be happy" said Wagner.
Wagner expects Medicine Hat to be one of the top teams in the South, while Lethbridge and Lakeland should be on more of same level. As the soccer season goes by fast, it is important for the team to try to get some points this weekend for standings and to help the girls confidence and to give them something to work towards going forward.
