Rustlers Women's Basketball | Weekend Recap - Nov 29 & 30, 2019
The Rustlers women's basketball team got 2 wins on their road trip to Grande Prairie this past weekend to take on the Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Wolves.
On Friday night, the Rustlers defeated the Wolves 92-45. The Rustlers showed their strength throughout the whole game, but especially in the first quarter, when their defense only allowed the Wolves to score 3 points.
At the half, the Rustlers were up 42-19 and continued their dominance throughout the game. The Rustlers would score 30 points in the fourth quarter to finish the game with a 27-point lead (92-45). The fourth-quarter charge was led by third-year guard Hailey Somers with 9 points.
The Rustlers were led by third-year forward Bilge Topaloglu with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, steals, and 3 blocks. Player of the game for the Rustlers was third-year guard Jaden Cook with 18 points, 2 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1 steal.
Fifth-year Brianne Hergott had a team-high 13 rebounds and scored 11 points. third-year guard Alana Olson had 11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block.
On Saturday afternoon, the Rustlers would defeat the Wolves once again by a large margin, 81-54.
The Rustlers were led by Jaden Cook with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Hailey Somers would score 14 points, had 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and steals, and Ally Pilgrim had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
Player of the game for the Rustlers fourth-year guard Tori Dugan with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals.
The Rustlers women's basketball team is heading into the Christmas break with a record of 10 wins and 2 losses, good for first in the ACAC North Division after the first half of the season.
The Rustlers are heading to Fort McMurray in the new year to kick off the second half of the season against the Keyano College Huskies January 17 and 18. They will be back on homecourt Saturday, January 25 against The King's University Eagles.
