Rustlers Women's Basketball | Weekend Recap - Nov 22 & 23, 2019
The Rustlers women's volleyball team finished this past weekend with 1 loss and 1 win over the Augustana Vikings.
On Friday night in Camrose, the Rustlers women's basketball team suffered a loss to the Vikings (41-62), only their second of the season.
The Rustlers could not seem to find the basket for most of the night. At the half, the Rustlers were down 33-21. The second half was not much better for the Rustlers as they still struggled to score.
The Rustlers were led by third-year forward Bilge Topaloglu with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist. Third-year guard Jaden Cook scored 7 points for the Rustlers and had 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.
Player of the game for the Rustlers was fifth-year forward Brianne Hergott with 7 points and 5 rebounds.
On Saturday night at home, the Rustlers bounced-back, defeating the Vikings 61-57. At the half the Rustlers were down by 1: 28-27. Some strong second half defense and efficiency on offense allowed for the Rustlers to defeat the Vikings by a small margin of 4 points.
Player of the game for the Rustlers was Bilge Topaloglu with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocks. Brianne Hergott added 9 points to the board and 4 rebounds.
Fourth-year guard Angela Baran scored 11 points for the Rustlers and had 11 rebounds, and 2 assists. First-year Ellie Lieffers had 11 points, and 3 rebounds in the game, showing the win on Saturday was a real team-effort.
The Rustlers are heading in to their final weekend of the semester with a record of 8-2 putting them atop the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) North Division. They are travelling to Grande Prairie to take on the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves this upcoming weekend. The games can be live-streamed on acactv.ca at 6 pm on Friday, November 29 and 1 pm on Saturday, November 30.
