Rustlers Women's Basketball | Weekend Recap - Nov 15 & 16, 2019
The Rustlers women's basketball team continued their win streak on the weekend over the Concordia Thunder. The women now hold a record of 7-1, sitting atop the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) North Division.
On Friday night on home court the Rustlers defeated the Thunder 70-49. By the end of the first quarter the Rustlers had already doubled the Thunder's score, 24-12.
The first quarter charge was led by fourth-year guard Angela Baran with 5 points, third-year guard Hailey Somers with 4 points and fifth-year forward Brianne Hergott with 6 points and 2 rebounds.
With this large lead, the Rustlers would continue to run away with the game with a final score of 70-49.
Baran would finish the game with a team-high 14 points. Somers would contribute 11 points and 3 rebounds, earning her player of the game honours.
Hergott would finish the game with 10 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Third-year forward Bilge Topalogu would score 12 points and have 11 rebounds in the game.
Saturday night, the Rustlers travelled to Edmonton to take on the Thunder again. The Rustlers would come out with another win, however, by a smaller gap: 65-57.
The Rustlers were led by fifth year forward Brianne Hergott with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Third year guard Jaden Cook score 10 points and had 3 rebounds and 1 assist.
Player of the game for the Rustlers was fourth year guard Tori Dugan with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals.
The Rustlers have won 7 in-a-row and will look to continue this trend against the Augustana Vikings this coming weekend. The Rustlers will be on home court again on Saturday, November 23 at 6pm with the men to follow.
