That's a Wrap - Rustler Rowing
Lakeland College Athletics enjoyed a season for the ages. Over the next week, we will be sharing a recap of each team's second semester finish.
Results
In a year full of transition, rowing acquitted themselves well against university competition.
The team placed 3rd in the Head of the Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) and then 3rd again at the Dino Sprints hosted by the University of Calgary. Then on March 9, the Rustlers participated in the Alberta Indoor Rowing Championships, where Team MVP Kyle Neidermaier placed 4th and top rookie Rayna Bender placed 5th in their respective categories.
Highlights
Eight members of the rowing team posted personal bests during the Indoor Rowing Championship.
Summer Outlook
Several members, including Neidermaier, will leave the program, but the remaining members are expected to make strong units, including a women's double and women's quad. A few athletes will be around all summer to participate in the club season, which will include The Regina Sprints June 8-9 and the Alberta Open June 29-30 in Calgary. A training camp is also set for July 20-21.
Coaches/Players Stamp
Peter Walsh, Rowing
"These kids really came together through the whole year as a team. We were really pleased with their attitude as a group strengthening, even during the winter. That was very satisfying."
