Men's Volleyball Weekend Recap | January 28, 2018
The Lakeland Rustlers Men's Volleyball team travelled to Grande Prairie on the weekend to face the Wolves and did something they had not done since January of 2016 – win on the road. The Rustlers defeated the Wolves in 4 sets (25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17) Friday night to break their road losing streak. The Rustlers took the momentum from their Friday night win into Saturday and defeated the Wolves in 5 sets (25-21, 19-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-7).
Friday night, the Rustlers were led by 2nd-year libero/hitter Matt Peck with 11 kills and nine digs. 2nd-Year outside hitter Brayden Griffith added seven kills, and five digs and 1st-year outside hitter Spencer Roziere added seven kills and two digs. 2nd-Year setter Jose Areliano had 21 assists for the Rustlers. Player of the Game for the Rustlers was Peck.
Saturday afternoon, the Rustlers were led by Roziere with 12 kills, two service aces, four digs and two blocks, while Griffith added 11 kills, ten digs and two blocks. 2nd-Year libero JC Funez had 11 digs for the Rustlers, and Peck added nine kills and a team-high 14 digs. Player of the Game for the Rustlers was Funez.
The Rustlers return to the court next weekend, February 2nd & 3rd against the NAIT Ooks.
The Rustlers will play host to the Ooks Friday night, before traveling to Edmonton on Saturday. Friday night's game will get started at approximately 8:00 pm as the Rustlers take part in RBC's Make Some Noise for Mental Health.
