Rustlers Men's Basketball | Weekend Recap - Nov 8 & 9, 2019
The Rustlers men's basketball team lost both of their games this past weekend to the Keyano College Huskies. The men now sit with a season record of 3 wins and 3 losses.
Friday night in Lloydminster, the Rustlers fell to the Keyano Huskies 94-80. At the end of the first half, the Huskies were up 28-14, and this would be the difference in the game, as the Rustlers would match them point for point for the remaining three quarters. The Rustlers struggled with fouling in the first half with 16 total.
The Rustlers spent the remainder of the game battling to get back into it. They came out firing in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overpower the consistent Husky team.
The Rustlers were led by fifth-year guard Ricardo Joseph with 25 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist. Terrell Murdaugh had 13 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals in the game, and Adrian Richards had 12 points and 3 rebounds.
Player of the game for the Rustlers was Kwantez Simmons with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.
Saturday afternoon was a rematch for the Rustlers and Huskies, where the Rustlers would ultimately fall to the Huskies once again 94-84. The Rustlers came out stronger than they did before and reduced their foul numbers.
The Rustlers were down 47-39 at the half, and the Huskies continued to run away with the game in the second half.
The Rustlers were led by third-year guard Rashon Russell with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, earning him player of the game honours. Ricardo Joseph had another great game with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.
The Rustlers men's basketball team will hit the court again in Lloydminster this coming Friday, November 15th, against the Concordia Thunder at 8 pm following the women's game.
