Rowdy Rustler Roundup - Lewis Isle
Sport: Mens Soccer & Futsal
Years Competed: 2011- 2015
How did playing for the Rustlers help you get where you are today?
Playing for the rustlers helped me get where I am today as it taught me a lot about teamwork, discipline and time management. These are skills I use everyday throughout life and my career.
Where are you working right now and what are you doing?
I currently work as an accountant for the City of Kelowna in the Financial Planning Department
Are you still involved with your sport you competed at Lakeland now?
Yes, I still play soccer weekly in men's leagues and COED leagues here in kelowna.
What was your favorite moment at Lakeland as a Student Athlete?
There were a lot of great moments at Lakeland. Winning Futsal Gold in my first year was a great moment. Seeing the soccer program evolve and grow and being one of the two first 5th year soccer athletes, along with a good friend Braydon Bretzer was a great feeling. Most importantly the best moment was meeting my fiancé and fellow Alumni Ashly Griffin.
Are you still close with any former teammates?
Definitely, a lot of the teammates I had at Lakeland became great friends and even though we don't necessarily live in the same city or province I still keep in contact with a lot of them and see them often.
If you could give a couple words of advice to our current Rustlers what would it be?
Basically just enjoy the whole experience, it goes by very fast. Enjoy being able to compete at a high level, enjoy working towards a common goal with teammates that will become lifelong friends. Try to enjoy the 6am practices as much as you can, and just give the whole experience everything you have. If you do that you will definitely come out better for it in the end.
